Every year for Halloween dress-up day, I put on my traditional Lebanese clothes and went to school as a “gypsy” in what was truly a strange mish-mash misrepresentation of multiple cultures. I played directly into the hands of right wing brown-phobic stereotypes. But my peers loooooved it. They asked me to grant wishes. So I would cross my arms and nod I Dream of Jeannie-style reveling in my annual day of othered popularity. It turns out I can’t grant wishes by nodding no matter how high my ponytail. Who knew? Friends, we did it. We grew #LinkYourLife beyond anything I can keep up with in a roundup. By teaming up with #BluSkyFriday, we more than doubled participation and readership. While I would love to link you all right here on my space, I think I am going to have to take a lesson from #1000Speak and #WeekendCoffeeShare and create a master space where you can link yourselves. In the meantime, I am toying with the idea of a “best of” or highlighting links from random time periods throughout the day.
