Alexis Donkin, High Impact Wise Woman

Intentional coach, writer and speaker Alexis Donkin has been a profound resource in my personal healing. Our relationship began over a year ago when we connected over writing and shared interests. I read her memoir, Thrive, and found myself in her story. I was inspired by her practical approach to transforming odds into evens, so to speak. She has a rounding off outlook on life that is effected through the realization and reframing of negatives into positive growth points.

I had the pleasure of a face-to-face chat with her via Facebook Messenger. She set aside time to meet with me and hear out some of my concerns. I was struggling to overcome a story I had told myself–one that was fueled by what I think of as my Anti-Conscience. I was allowing negative self-talk to guide me deeper into fear and anxiety and into a spiritual abyss. I felt very lost.

Alexis is a calm, thoughtful presence. For about an hour, she played Jiminy Cricket to my Pinocchio. She heard my concerns, and in doing so, she helped me hear myself. Why Pinocchio? I was telling myself lies. And I was doing it on repeat.

I had created a mantra of fear. Alexis asked me, “What if you practiced gratitude?”

I wasn’t sure what that would look like, but Alexis laid it out for me. She had me channel all my fear into the positive practice of giving thanks really and truly from my heart. To state over and over what was good and really feel that appreciation. Not just go through the motions. Through this practice, my fear was released and serenity took its place. I was able to step into a calm, mental space and think clearly instead of reactively. I was able to identify the source of the stories troubling me. I let them go.

Alexis Donkin is a beautifully compassionate, heart-forward person. I deeply appreciate the consideration she puts into every word, the time and energy she spends on friendship and authenticity, and her very real presence.

The day after we spoke and I began my gratitude practice, I woke up to an acceptance letter for two of my poems in a print journal. Later I was contacted to write an article for a local print publication. I was reminded of how long I have tried to get back in print and how putting positivity into practice spins the wheel.

One session with Alexis helped me move from emotional paralysis back into the embrace of my own loving heart.

If you are stuck, I recommend scheduling a session with Alexis. She is naturally intuitive and consciously engaged. In addition to her coaching, I recommend her e-course, The Heart Unboxed: Loving the Unlovable. It is absolutely worth the investment in yourself.
