Dreams in a Cup #WeekendCoffeeShare

If we were having coffee, I would tell you, “Oh my gosh. Welcome! Long time no see.” Friends, where have I been all Winter? The sun is coming out and I feel like I’m resurfacing. Like all of the sudden there is air.

If you were here with me, you’d be joining me in my office. My very own writing and work space! I would crack the window and burn some sage if it feels good to you, because I am sweeping accumulated negativity out of my life. In Winter I stagnate. In Spring, I come alive.

If we were having coffee I’d be nowhere near this put together. I’d also be laughing because I think I’m making the weirdest face ever in this photo. Like I’m almost disgusted? But it’s coffee, so how could that be!?

If we were having coffee, you could meet Appa the Service Dog (in training). He’s the cuddliest, cutest, sweetest and smartest poodle you’ll ever meet and I’m not at all biased. You could watch Noah direct Appa in a few tricks, and watch Appa redirect Noah here in a few minutes when all screens are turned off. That’s always a tough transition.

I would tell you, friend, thank you. There is an excellent chance you have either been donating to our GoFundMe campaign or have submitted work in one of the Four Paws for Noah fundraiser competitions. I would show you the pile of prizes I have beside me. Maybe one of them will be yours?

If we were having coffee I would celebrate because, oh goddess, coffee! It has just come back into my life. The fact that I can drink it again means I am in a good place mentally. No shivers and shakes and uncontrollable trembling because my anxiety is winding down. You would smile and I would smile and the sun would shine through the overcast sky because of coffee!

Mostly, what I want to share is a set of goals, the first of which is getting my next writing retreat on the books. That’s what I’m doing in my office this morning- drafting a retreat promo package. Later, I will check out the location and nearby accommodations. I love teaching and I can’t wait to work with a new group of individuals (because even when the same people show up, they have all changed between sessions). I am so excited! If we were having coffee, you would probably be taking my cup away right now because I am bouncing up and down.

It would also be time for me to ask you to go. Our coffee date was all too brief, but I have some much to do this morning. I’d give you a quick peek at my list before you leave. You’d understand and hustle out. Thank you for coming! Time to refresh my cup and get back to the grind.

    Hi Shawna,
Thanks for the cuppa. It’s great to catch up again.
I’m pleased to hear that Noah and Appa are doing so well together. I’m pleased to hear that you are doing well too and hope that your next writing retreat goes well.
It sounds like all is on track for a great season.
    Have fun!

So happy to see you around the coffee share this weekend!

I know what you mean about feeling stagnant and beginning to come back again. I feel a bit like that myself, though my coming back process is going pretty slowly. It just feels like it’s been a really long winter this year, somehow.

I have been getting so many false starts so far this spring here in Minnesota. The weather just cannot make up its mind! A bright spring day with a cup of coffee sounds incredible :D.
